This morning i had to go into town to pick up some new glasses from specsavers.
My wife decided she didn't want to go with me so i was on my own.
As i was waiting in the opticians i thought about what happened earlier in the week about my wife catching me looking at makeup.
And so there and then when I'd finished in specsavers i decided to go to Debenhams. So with a deep breath i walked upto what i thought would be the best cosmetics lady that could help me and said, "Excuse me but could you give me some help on makeup for myself? i know it might sound a little strange, not at all, don`t be scared i get lots of guys coming in.
She asked me what sort of look i wanted? And i said a sort of glamourous/pretty look and i showed her my profile pic, "excellent" she said thats quite a good effort and i can get you the right shading for concealer and she said " the foundation i was using was about right. We where interupted a few times by ladies coming up asking her for various product and i was very nervous sat there at a makeup counter in the middle of Debenhams with concealer on my face dressed in a shirt jacket and trousers.
The ladies even apologised to me for taking the makeup lady away from me.
They where all really nice and didn't seem bothered that a bloke was having makeup put on his face, even a little girl seemed fascinated at me having this done!!
Anyway, after about half an hour of Jane showing me what to do i came away with some Chanel product, Brush for concealer and foundation, concealer, a moisturiser gel for around the eyes and a fixing cream! Before i left she gave me her number at the shop and told me to call her anytime i liked if i needed help and that i could also call her to make an hour long appointment with two makeup girls.
Also as i left she asked my name and gave me a hug!!!
Can't believe i walked into Debenhams on my own, on a sunday morning full of people and did that.
It would of been nice for my wife to have been there with me, but if i have to do this on my own i will.
Lots of love,
Catriona xxxxxx
PS, A big thankyou to Emma tights who gave me the encouragement to get in there, i know she thinks she didn't do anything, but she was just there for me!! Thanks Em, and to everyone who gives support in here. 💋💋💋
I completely understand that a lot of makeup products are very expensive, don't worry, if the makeup lady thinks I'll be going back on a regular basis then she's sadly mistaken.
It was more of an exercise in being able to go into a busy shop in broad daylight and actually speaking to the staff, its a massive confidence booster when you know you can do it and no one is really that bothered, your just doing what you need to do.
I'll be lowering my sights on more makeup, but i already use high end products for my male shaving routine, and they are the only products that actually work. I think i might do a post on my shaving routine? And explaine how i do it, thats if people are interested? Let me know.

I just noticed, the story has been jumbled about and bit cut out, don't know whats happened there, i need to use my laptop for longer stories.
Ive managed to edit on laptop.
Amazing Cat but what if your wife finds out you spent £147 on make-up i know if not be happy very brave though x
Emma (wife)
Wow very brave and not something if ever do.
Me and Esm e talked about a possible makeover but less public more specialist or even someone to come to the house to make both of us over five us a make-up lesson.
I don't think I've spent £147 in the last 20 years on Davina lol I find it hard to justify.
I bet your wife would be shocked as I bet she's not spend that much a year in makeup.
Well done though very brave and open and a great reaction from Debenhams staff and customers.
Thanks Cat, It was my pleasure to help, not that I think I did much, it was all you xxxx
you did great Cat, well done, very proud of you, your much braver than me (Emma) xxxx
