I have some dresses that have a slighter deeper V shaped neckline than I normally wear so I looked into purchasing a silicone breastplate. Most were more than I wanted to spend, especially as I'd read a lot about them being fairly hot and sweaty when worn. Trawling eBay and other sites I finally took the plunge (no pun intended) and bought a silicone filled breastplate in a size 'D' for about £47.00 shipped. Cheap enough to see if it worked and how easy it would be to use.
Anyway, fast forward to this weekend and I get to try it so how have I got on. Firstly, the size is about right. It worked out that my 44D lingerie fitted the breastplate about right. It is definitely a bit fiddly to put on and boy is it hot and sweaty when worn. My one piece corselette was showing too much under my dresses so, a bit more research and it seemed a lightly padded, underwired bra would work better. Off I trot to a huge Asda (It was just up the road from the hotel) and I bought a very nice bra black, slightly padded bra in size 42D (biggest back size I could find) and this turned out to be a great fit. The silicone breast plate was still so hot and sweaty I was getting a little bit annoyed. Long story short, a brand new pair of scissors and now I have just a pair of 42D connected breasts. The plate has been cut away around the silicone filled boobs! What a dramatic change. The bra provides great support and no more hot and sweaty. Obviously I can't wear the lower cut dresses now but, given how hot the silicone plate was, it's far more comfortable to use just the boobs now rather than the full plate. I'm not sure how durable these boobs will be, if I pack them carefully, I think they will last, especially as I've not cut really close to the silicone filled sections.
So, if you fancy a silicone breastplate would I recommend one. Personally I wouldn't buy another. Too fiddly, talc gets everywhere and so hot and sweaty (have you heard boobs fart). I'm sticking to pairs of breast forms in the future. The only benefit I have found is that the boobs from the breastplate are more naturally styled, fuller and rounder than maybe a pair of breast forms would be. If my cutout ones last, my small investment of less than £50.00 won't have been wasted.
Good to know I have toyed with the thought of purchasing a breastplate. But two issues for me is I have mobility issues on one side of my body not that it’s noticeable. This makes me wonder if I could get one on to start with and then off I have never seen or felt one let alone try one on. If it is difficult to get on and off one handed then I would not buy and save money and time.
