I recently read the '5 days as Davina' post and saw the pics of the different outfits for each day which Davina included. This sort of set me off on the train of thought I'll try to explain, as best I can, below.
Now, I've said before that when I can't dress I tend to resort to looking at various online shopping and auction sites for new outfits. I can go for weeks without the desire to dress so my shopping habits tend to vary a lot but when I do shop, I find I spend hours looking. I counted my dresses this week and have 19 (but. I'll include one Jumpsuit in this figure) but this has now increased by one after last night when I bought a knee length, half sleeve full sequin dress off Ebay for the princely sum of £11.00.
This brings me back to the title of this post.....Too much or not enough? We all like to dress but how many outfits is too much or enough? It's not just the outfits is it, it's everything else that goes along with them in order to feel good when given the opportunity to dress. The underwear, the stockings, the shoes, the dress or a skirt and blouse and maybe some jewellery. Some may include makeup, handbags, coats, jackets and anything else I can't think of in this list.
I know I need a couple of pairs of shoes and I'd like at least one pair of knee length boots and I could certainly do with an increase in my jewellery collection (I have one pair of earrings and one necklace that I consider wearable). Is it just me but I don't feel the same 'compulsion' to buy anything for my male persona that I do for my female persona.
So, where to stop?
What's enough?
How does everyone else cope?
Well my wardrobe has swollen hugely and I have managed to accumulate quite a ridiculously large collection of clothes in the year since I became 'legit'. A rough guess-timation gives me: around forty skirts of varying types, twenty dresses, two dozen blouses and tops, loads of jersey tops, vests, camis, about thirty sweaters, cardis and wraps, a couple of pairs of jeans, disco pants, leather jeans, lots of leggings, lots of scarves and pashminas, jewellery, shed-loads of makeup, two drawers full of underwear of all varieties and about 200 pairs of tights! Oh and about 20 pairs of shoes and boots. Enough? Of course not! I'm always looking at new clothes!
My male wardrobe is desperately small in comparison - subsistence level really and it always has been. My girly side is much more willing to spend money on clothing than my male side! Having the gf to encourage and contribute to Cara's clothing may have a lot to do with it too. :)
