Your main picture sums it up completely. I was sat watching a marvel show on Disney + yesterday with the wife and my eldest. There was the main female protagonist at a posh doo not in a gorgeous dress but a tuxedo like all the fellas. I couldn't help myself but had to point out to my wife that it was outrageous her cross dressing, whatever was she thinking. Double standards 🤔🙄I just got one of those looks from my wife that was priceless. 😂
First of all, @Davina you need to find the guy on TWitter and point out that Bugs Bunny wasn't Disney but Warner Brothers! Disney was always too busy promoting Nazi and White Supremacist agendas 😉
I definitely think us lot suffer from the notion that transvestism is an entirely sexual pursuit, despite high-profile CDs like Eddie Izzard and Grayson Perry, and as much as I find Drag Race entertaining, the whole thing is a celebration of drag as part of the gay scene and so on. Obviously there is a sexual side to it, but as we know, it isn't just that.
'Men's' clothes worn by women aren't seen as sexualising but empowering, levelling, normal, comfortable, making a statement or whatever, whereas 'women's' clothes when worn by a man are often seen as a sign of effeminacy (well, OK lol). homosexuality, predatory sexual intentions, an invitation to be ridiculed and so on. I know attitudes are shifting and we can walk about dressed, but there is still a stigma and a the notion that there is an ulterior motive and some quarters of society are slow to accept 'differences'. Just look at how people have reacted to Meghan Markle.
Anyhoo, I've probably gone off topic... very early, first coffee! 🙄😜
Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Grayson Perry accepts his knighthood dressed as Claire!
Ahh Disney and WB mix up but I do recall a lot as a get out to being shot by Elmer Bugs would Cross dress and pout and make eyes at the old rascal and make his escape. Its the first time I've considered Cross dressing in plain sight and in a kids cartoon and no doubt there were other examples.. Les Dawson and Co used to dress up for comedy and also Kenny Everett in the best possible taste etc.. So hints of crossdressing there in Comedy but that had zero effect on me dressing more likely to be Vicki Michelle in Allo Allo in her stockings suspenders and high heels and Helga in her sexy Lingerie..
We do suffer from the notion that transvestism is a sexual pursuit ... Maybe TV chix is more that kinda place but I've enjoyed regular chat there but a lot of it is sexual or the question is asked "Is Davina Big, Are you into other girls..."
I haven't really given Drag Race a 2nd look because its dominated by the gay scene and nowt against that but it a not representative of me as a Cross dresser but I'm sure when I told my wife I cross dressed she expected a drag queen and hence her first question "Are you gay?"
There is a sexual side to it I've never denied that I remember my first arousal was cross dressed wondering what was wrong with me was this a hernia? Lol and then discovering touching it and self taught masterbation before the internet and on line porn and reaching orgasm when dressed first time omg I've broken it something gooey came out if me. So naive and still today I can be very turned on as Davina. It can wear off.
You're right 'Men's' clothes worn by women aren't seen as sexualising but empowering, levelling, normal, comfortable, making a statement etc.. Comfortable?
So hang on if that's in there I find my all in one lingerie comfortable and tights and dresses.. We're sorted lads we dress first comfort!!
Its unfair us dressing and presenting as women is seen as such a threat to femininity and a kink or perversion it makes new go Arrrghhhhhh!!
I just enjoy the escapism of shaving, puting in makeup, a wig, perfume and "women's clothes" and it magically Helps me unwind and destress.
So if its good enough first Bugs its good enough for me.
Oh I have no beef with Bugs! And there's no doubt he scrubbed up very well. Obviously more to it than just a quick disguise - he's done the research! :D
I never actually watched 'Allo 'allo until recently - it always seemed a bit 'mainstream', but I actually found the first series to be not as bad as I thought it would be! lol I can see what you mean about those two, but I always thought they were a bit too 'Tabloid'. I was more 'Wonder Woman'
I think LGBT is becoming more accepted and normalised.. Sir Ian mcellan and Jill Scott on with John Bishop talking about how being Gay is accepted more and more and normalised.. But male footballers still don't feel they can come out as Gay footballers as they'd get abused from the stands and the press.. How sad is that.. The T in LGBT isn't as widely accwoted and there is an agenda resisting the T as they think we're a threat to women and girls or morally wrong.. JK Rowling has some stern thoughts on Trans people which is a shame. We battle on but I know the Cross dresser is the pariah in the T / Trans spectrum and the hairy knicker wearer is right down the bottom.. I see tgirls on Flikr some stunning with pro makeovers and some tasteful lingerie, stockings and heel a photos but I agree I don't want to see tgirls cocks out, plugged etc as that makes it has for us normal tgirls who say its not all about sex. For may of us its escapism not sexual..Here's sonething I came across today when on twitter some guy ranted about lgbt and he said disney are openly promoting lgbt and I said Bugs Bunny's been cross dressing for decades..
Good question. We're getting into the realms of societal norms, it's not acceptable for men to wear dresses yet no-one bat's any eye if women wear suits. It's just seen as wrong, perverted, weired, shameful or any other adjective you want to use to describe it.The fact it's still seen as wrong is, I assume, why many hide it even though there are celebs who openly crossdress. It maybe OK for them as they are protected somewhat by their celebrity status but for many ordinary people, there is no protection. They would be teased or openly criticised of they were found out. Some wives can't accept it so marriages are broken. So many consequences and many often unpredictable. I find that there are a lot of CDs that seem to relish in expressing their sexual side by seeking male admirers, partners, Doms etc. by posing in lingerie or not much else. There are plenty of explicit pics of CDs with cocks out, jacking off or plugs inserted etc. which doesn't help the image of dirty old men or perverts perhaps does it!Although strides have been made there is, sadly, still a long way to go.
