I watched the programme with my wife and it was very moving. She sat there with tears in her eyes by the end. Take it for what it is, a drama about a very difficult situation. It shows the raw emotions that the family are facing and the isolation that Max / Maxine feels. She is trying to please everyone without being true to herself which is damaging.
I hope the story develops and that the issues can be dealt with in a sympathetic way. There is no sensationalism and the attitudes of his sister, parents and grandparents are probably typical of what you might expect. The 'it's just a stage he's going through' is typical of people who do not understand the complexities of trans and I hope that people who watch become more educated as a result.
That will only be positive for the trans community, including crossdressers.
Hmmm I think Davina is right having seen the clip this is more than Crossdressing and may be confusing for a wife trying to come to terms with her husband dressing up as a woman.
What message does this send? maybe one of fear your husband wants a sex change or wants to dress as a woman full time?
There never has been a program on tv to show crossdressers.
Doesn't interest me as this is more of a boy sees himself as a girl thing and the turmoils of it all compared with most of us playing with Crossdressing here as a far less serious thing.
When i was a kid crossdressing I never once considered I wanted to be a girl it was just a bit of stimulating fun and still is.
I think it could potentially scare the crap out of a wife watching the series as they may ask "Is this what it's like for you are you telling me you want to be a Woman?" not on your nelly just like to crossdress when i get the urge.
So i will be giving it a miss.
We're never represented on the TV in a good light as Tgirls / crossdressers still the pervert and weirdo stigma and sometimes i can see why but there are lots who are run of the mill blokes getting some weird and yes i meant weird escapism by dressing as women.
