I watched the programme with my wife and it was very moving. She sat there with tears in her eyes by the end. Take it for what it is, a drama about a very difficult situation. It shows the raw emotions that the family are facing and the isolation that Max / Maxine feels. She is trying to please everyone without being true to herself which is damaging.
I hope the story develops and that the issues can be dealt with in a sympathetic way. There is no sensationalism and the attitudes of his sister, parents and grandparents are probably typical of what you might expect. The 'it's just a stage he's going through' is typical of people who do not understand the complexities of trans and I hope that people who watch become more educated as a result.
That will only be positive for the trans community, including crossdressers.
