Anyone done an online booking or survey recently... I'm always tempted to put something other than male or female just for a laugh .. I wonder if there is a proper census out there which will tell us the true number of crossdressers.. 1 in 20 I think is high but if this is true we are certainly not alone..

I have in the past put crossdresser male female bisexual just for my own amusement. My wife told me to stop it now it’s normally just male female or other you cannot type your answer
Ooooo some heated debate on this one.
Even in the Trans world there's arguments on how trans you are or aren't and the association with sexuality.
I assumed it was linked and chatting and reading its not always linked some just dress because they do but some do dress and a big part is sexuality and fetish and that turn on of what you're wearing and it seems lots of crossdressers masturbate when dressed up.
The label thing keeps coming it doesn't it and now on line i see you can opt for lots of definitions other than male of female not just on line also in paper forms to fill in for different things.
On the gay pride thing though some people can be funny can't they and don't like that trans people are out on their march, it's a difficult one as its part of LGBT but its not a sexuality like the first 3 then there is the Q they've added on I don't really get what queer is I'm old enough to have heard queer associated with LGand B well actually B was less talked about in my day.
Where does a straight crossdresser fit in LGBT not in the LGB but definitely in the T bit but to a lesser extent than a full TV or TS person.
I'm just rambling on
Does it even matter in the context of our forum?

Oops i caused a bit of a stir with my comment I think unintended but think the point is its now commercialised too much these pride events and as Katie points out and Davina to a point it's something tagged on Trans it seems more about being Gay and proud.

I suppose the reason we don't have straight pride - unless you count all the posturing and prancing on a (normal) Friday night out in St Mary Street, is that no-one ever got prosecuted or persecuted for being straight - not counting underage things properly policed. I suppose on the "spectrum of transness", if we have CD->TV->TS (Feel free to enlarge that anyone) then depending where you think you sit on that may affect your feelings too.
As for not "rolling back" I could offer you the governments recent about face on gender recognition. The government was edging towards self certification but it may be no accident they have reverted back to the more proscribed rules off the back of a swing to the right!
On a happier or more positive note, I've "done Pride" three times in Cardiff and twice in Bristol. I only made the march once - big mistake to do it in a pair of unbroken-in heels - but that's got more to do with me not having enough time to prep and make up than a desire not to march. I cannot say how liberating it is to be "on the field" in your home town where literally no-one cares. It's worth a hundred other dressing moments.
I've had discussion in chat rooms anon in a UK LGBT chat just to gauge response to crossdressers and for a bit of research for here and have been told by some that T Should not be in LGBT as it's not a sexuality.
No idea how mainstream a thought that is in among the L and G part i suppose the B part doesn't mind as a lot of T are bi. (From chatting in Tvchix and in the same LGBT chat room).
T certainly does not have anything to do with sexuality (and I feel sexuality should be a private thing we don't all want to know about other peoples sexuality although its a frequent question in TVChix.. are you Bi?) but T is a minority so included in LGBTQ.
Discussed this before as the T breaks down further and think the Crossdresser is bottom of the rung in the T part.
"You're not a proper Tranny" I've been accused of by the more out there T-girls who for whatever reason think they're more entitled to the capital T for Trans as they'reon the scene and we're little t, mere crossdressers.
Both sides to this argument have a chip on their shoulder about it tho I'm past caring.
I come across them from time to time and call them the Tranny Police.. Excuse me 'Sir' you're not a proper Tranny.
I don't think we'll see a roll back in the UK myself on being openly Gay or at least I hope not as its nothing to be ashamed of the same as being in the Trans spectrum is nothing to be afraid of but being Gay is more widely understood and progressed in society acceptance and norm than crossdressing.
The pride marches don't bother me but as I said people would be offended by a straight march which is something my Dad has said a few times.
"Why can't we have a straight march why is that offensive?"
Its a question and I've also asked playing devils advocate in an LGBT room and the abuse i got was amazing i even got called a homophobe.
Even when explaining i was playing devils advocate they wouldn't have it and said I'm a straight crossdresser and had no business in an LGBTQ chat room 😱
Like Christmas i'm not sure everyone celebrates "pride" for the original reason and we still have a way to go with acceptance in society and even in LGBTQ, part of me because of some of the chats I've had wants to distance myself from it but that's just me.

I’m sorry but IMHO you could not be more wrong. We can only do what we do in public because of those brave men and women in the past and every time we march or we congregate openly we celebrate and continue that right. Last time I looked, the T in LGTBQ made no mention of sexuality. If you want a reason to keep exercising your rights, then look at the roll backs happening in Eastern Europe and Donald Trump’s America. A right not exercised is a right lost! And before you say it could not happen here I would offer you the right and it’s often very reactionary thinking, harking back to a supposedly better era - when we would have been openly persecuted! Rant over but it is something I feel strongly about.
At the moment it seems to be more about selecting your pronouns. I know our council is really into it and on their emails it says preferred pronoun. He/him, she/her or them/they.

I think I agree with you Davina it can be a bit overwhelming when you go into town and there's a rainbow march going on, but it's usually only once per year.
I've seen on line mainly T girls attending the LGBT marches but it's still heavily bias on "Gay Pride" and yes get what you mean as we watched Enigma Friday night and how persecuted Gay people were back then with it being a crime to be gay, how dreadful.
But today people can openly be gay but I think sexuality is a personal thing but some do I agree like to put it front and centre and let you know they are gay.
You t girls are the opposite and hide your trans side and no one would guess you are trans, crossdressers.
I suppose applying for a job choosing trans would be a big move but some online survey or joining an anon on line community as trans would be ok.

I think the questions about sexuality is for the proposed employer to be able to understand from the start that persons sexuality so they can support them.
My ex manager was gay, he never spoke of it whilst he worked at my previous employment, he did leave under some strange circumstances and it wasn't until sometime later we saw his name in a local paper and he had won a compensation claim against our company for how the MD had treated him with sarcastic remarks and comments.
As far as I was aware the company had no system in place on how to deal with gay or lesbian people let alone trans.
But I saw the how people joked about it when they found out.
I think a lot of people don't like it being pushed in their faces all the time.
Good to see the diversity and inclusion in the work place.
I know if i really wanted to I could openly come out as trans / crossdresser in work and would get the sniggers and disbelief but within my rights. Or could i? would they say that's crossdressing it doesn't fall within our list as Trans...
So I could dress working from home and go on web cam video meetings as Davina or not.
I don't think with us working from home our electricity and gas heating etc they could insist we must go on cam and could just put up a profile pic or name up instead of video.
What I don't get is, I understand the need to reflect what Gender you wish to be recognised as but what's sexuality got to do with an application for a job.
I will admit i used to be homophobic when younger maybe a product of how i was brought up and my fathers words on gay people but now I believe each to their own gay, lesbian bisexual whatever love is love but where i do get annoyed is when its shoved down my throat.. I'll leave this here lol I didn't mean a certain male appendage shoved down my throat you know what i mean the Gay pride and all that I personally think it's run its course.
The battle for Gay rights has been won.. but it wasn't won by the current generation who celebrate it as if it was won by them if you get my drift.
In the UK no one is persecuted for being Gay any more,
Maybe this will offend some but I cannot have straight pride..
I'm told that saying that is offensive and this is where all the PC thing is going wrong .. I didn't have to fight for the pride of being straight (Is it even pride? I'm not proud i'm straight i just am straight and surely if i was gay or bisexual i'd not be proud about it id just be bi or gay) ... I'm told its a birthright being straight and its a privilege.. but the way things are going I may have to fight for it in the future as already heard in work "We need to take on more LGBT people to show we are diverse"..
No take on the best person for the job!!
It matters not the gender and it matters not the sexuality which is a private thing for most.
It wound me up that a guy in work has now got an MBE for arranging Gay pride in the workplace as an ambassador for gay people in our industry in Wales and to me it seems all he's doing in work is promoting being gay and arranging company vehicles to use for Gay pride parades and because of diversity and inclusion no one will address this..
Great hes promoted something and got an MBE for it but that's not his job..
I could not second work vehicles paid for by the tax payer for anything i wanted to promote..
End of rant just don't get why sexuality needs to be pushed in this way another I worked with would introduce herself and as part of the introduction say "and I'm a lesbian" WWWHHHYYYYYY????
As I've been looking for work over the past 10 months or so I've had to fill in online application forms.
The one I found most comprehensive was for the Post office, but they also wanted to know your sexual persuasion! You also had the option not to answer, I think it was them trying to show their diversity of employing everyone.
I think there was an option for transgender in the usual male, female list, I think there was an 'other' as well.
I've also come across notes in job descriptions letting people know they are an equal opportunity employer regarding the LGBTQ community.
