The future for crossdressers is looking bright !!!??
Acceptance is on the rise? or so it seems.
Even as recently as 10 years ago, crossdressers were still being called transvestites in many parts of the world. Back to labels again and the latin i know but a lot of us dont like the term and think of a transvestite as a more full time t-girl.
The clinical term has been replaced by the word Crossdresser or the more fun T-girl — a term that is still evolving and one i prefer.
Look at how the Transgender Umbrella (above) or the Trans spectrum as I prefer to call it encompasses Crossdressers.. Yet some in the trans community frown upon the mere crossdresser dressing up for escapism and fun occasionally not taking it too serious.
Crossdressers have their own hanger under the umbrella!!
This means that crossdressers are considered members of the transgender community no matter what some hoyty toyty person further to the right of the spectrum say in criticism.
Ten years ago I'm willing to bet a T-girl stepping out into the high street would be shunned and ridiculed but now t-girls are not only invited to use the fitting rooms and makeup counters but the sales associates are actually handing t-girls garments to try on and suggesting the best beard cover and foundation.
My experience out in public if i was read or not is people don't really care how we're dressed and presenting.. The ones to convince are those closest to us.
How has this happened?
The internet has given us a way to communicate, share fears, debate and advise and I believe without the internet this advance in acceptance wouldn't have happened.
Who cares Davina trans not trans you're all crossdressers and enjoying it so dont worry about that umbrella nice little community here in the forum is all you need and yes the Internets shot acceptance forward
Big strides made due to the internet and communication
I agree that the internet has played a massive part in the acceptance of crossdressers.
My only experience of going to a makeup dept and asking for advice on what concealer and beard coverage to use went much better than i expected, the makeup lady never batted an eye when i told her it was for me, she spent quite a bit of time with me explaining how to apply things and when we finished, before i left she gave me a big hug!
just recently ive heard stories of crossdressers who have gradually come out to friends and family and response has been very good, people are not that bothered to the news and accepting, but there are still individuals who are not accepting but i think as a general rule people accept.
Iv`e now got quite a large selection of friends on facebook who come under the Transgender umbrella,
mostly transgender some crossdressers , lesbians and gay guys all welcome the crossdresser but i do make it clear on my profile that i am a CD/ T-Girl so that anyone who doesn`t think the a cd should be included doesn`t have to be friends with me, i personally don`t have any problems being verbally attacked but ive read posts from cd`s who have been called out, but from cis people i think things are getting better.
