In Out and about
Just thought I would write a few words about Miss C's in Ebbw Vale and see if anybody has any views... My first time out was at Miss C's about this time last year - by that I mean I'd changed at my hotel and driven to Miss C's dressed (which was a first in itself :-) ) so it was also my first time leaving a hotel room and navigating through a very busy reception! But nobody seemed to notice, so I guess that gave me a little confidence boost that people weren't going to point & stare & laugh (well, not to my face anyway :-) ) I was extremely nervous as I arrived at Miss C's and knocked on the door but the hosts, Mandy & Cherry, are two of the nicest most genuine people you will ever meet. I think one of them has a partner who is a crossdresser, can't remember which one though. My first visit was the first time I'd ever met other trans people face to face and there were a complete mix of people there - some first timers like me, some people already on their transition journey, lots anywhere in between & some with their supporting partners. As I think I've said on another thread one of the most rewarding aspects for me was listening to everyone else's stories, advice & tips etc. It's such a relaxed atmosphere all of the worry & stress about being "outed" or not fitting in just falls away. Talking to other people about their first experiences of going out, or some of the more experienced girls who had been to LFF/Blackpool etc was cool too. They have a converted loft that is really a changing room, full of clothes, shoes & wigs for those that don't have their own. Indeed while I was there I did see some people arrive as male, disappear upstairs then reappear in short skirt, stockings & heels then totter around for a couple of hours, get changed back into male clothes and leave - Miss C's really caters for everybody! There's a hot/cold buffet and plenty of tea/coffee/soft drinks so you can just chill and be yourself. I really owe Miss C's a debt of gratitude for helping me on my journey and giving me the confidence & advice I needed to take my first steps out into mainstream places. And just to make it clear - it's a social meet, there's no seedy/swinging/naughty-stuff going on either! BTW I'm not on comission :-) Sounds like I'm selling it! I just think it's a really good first step on the way to the ultimate destination of going out & mixing with the muggles :-) Has anyone else been to Miss C's or a similar event and found it useful?
