A Girls’ Day Out (Sort Of)

🎄

Something unexpected happened this week — My wife and her friends as is some sort of tradition in the UK are booked to go to a "Christmas Market"

Someone pulled out due to other commitments and I said to my wife "I'm not doing anything that day I'll come with you"

She checked with the girls and they said why not - But she also promised them I'll carry all the bags.. Hmmm 'It sounds like they plan on making me submissive' Lol

So and this is now Davina's perspective "I’ve been invited on a girls’ trip YAY!"

At the end of November, my wife Esme and a couple of her friends are heading to the Christmas Market over the border in England.

It’s usually an all-female affair (I might be the only male on the bus): scarves, tights, boots, shopping, chatter, mulled wine, and plenty of laughter on the bus and throughout the day - Finding out what women chat about on these girl trips - I hope they don't hold back as they have a man in their company as I can "Girl talk" with the bet of them..

So, I’ll be joining them — as my everyday, male self.

Hang on boots, tights, dresses, makeup, hair... They're so lucky and they don't realise it but probably think they have a lot to arrange, what to wear, nails done hair done makeup done, so up early as we're leaving early - I would love that..

If life were different — if the stars aligned, and comfort levels allowed — I’d love to be going as Davina one of the girls in every sense - the most on point makeup, hair styled, coat dress tights lingerie boots..

I can already picture it below Davina in this alternate Christmas market trip presenting as a blonde woman:

The crisp air of late November, the smell of cinnamon, mulled wine and roasted chestnuts and that ever present German sausage bbq stall.

The glow of fairy lights dancing on the cobbles, all of us "girls" wrapped in a warm coat, hair curled, boots clicking lightly as we browse the stalls, laughing with Esme and her friends over Christmas market bits and pieces.

Instead, I’ll be there as me — the “husband” version. And that’s fine. I’ll probably really enjoy the day with the girls ( I need to check what sport is on actually lol don't want to miss my team playing if they're on TV - Suggest a meal in a sports bar lol) .... The sparkle of the season That's Christmas season not football season.

But I’ll also let my mind wander to that imagined version, where Davina is free to join in without hesitation and have to be careful I don't talk too girly especially if makeup, hair, heels, hosiery and fashion crop up in conversation.

It’s comforting, somehow, to carry that inner version of myself with me — even when I can’t express it visually outwardly. Maybe her friends will see the "nicer side of me" that's Esme sees in Davina and why they think I'm some model husband lol.

Because being one of the girls isn’t always about what you’re wearing; sometimes it’s about how you feel — connected, relaxed, sharing laughter and warmth, just being friends no matter gender and I know that, inside, Davina will be smiling all day long.

Imagine if you could joke with your wife and her friends to turn you into one of the girls so you didn’t stand out on the trip.

I hope you have a lovely day with the girls. If only Esme could bring her “cousin” Davina along at the last minute her husband has to drop out.
