Cross-trainers and cross dressers: My slip a of the tongue

Living a secret crossdressing life sometimes creates little moments where the two worlds almost collide.

Slipping up with my words.

There have been a few occasions, usually when chatting with family or friends, where the word "crossdresser" has nearly jumped out of my mouth without warning — when I meant to say something completely innocent!

Sometimes it has come out..

We have a cross trainer at home, and I use one at the gym too.

A few times, while talking to my wife, her family, or even work colleagues, I’ve accidentally said,"Oh, I spent half an hour on the crossdresser today!"instead of "cross trainer!"

Cue me quickly correcting myself and moving the conversation along before anyone notices or wonders why the word cross dresser was on the tip of my tongue.

Another classic?We have a lovely Welsh dresser in the house, a traditional wooden cupboard and shelf unit.

When asked where something was, I said,"It’s on the crossdresser"instead of "Welsh dresser."

Again, a quick correction and a little internal laugh at myself!

It’s amazing how everyday words can tangle with the private language that’s always quietly ticking away inside me.

Crossdressing is a part of me — even if it's hidden from most people — so it’s no wonder my subconscious sometimes lets it slip into the open.

Luckily, no one has ever picked up on these tiny slip-ups...At least, not that I know of!

Maybe they just thought I was tired, distracted, or being a bit silly.

I imagine I’m not alone in this. Other crossdressers must have had similar moments where their secret life nearly peeked out — a sudden stammer, a slip of the tongue, a strange moment that meant nothing to others but everything to us.

Those little slips remind me how close Davina always is — just beneath the surface, a part of my everyday thoughts, no matter how "normal" the day seems.
