Gym underware.. ????

One of the less glamorous truths about getting back into regular gym sessions is discovering new aches and pains you never expected.
The last few days, after some cardio sessions on the exercise bike, I noticed my trusty boxers were rubbing and causing a bit of chafing.
Not exactly the kind of fitness gain I was looking for. Ouch!
So today I tried something different.
Instead of boxers, I wore a pair of knickers. The result? No rubbing, no discomfort and a much better workout.
It made me think how much of life is spent worrying about whether something fits a stereotype rather than whether it actually works.
Cyclists spend fortunes on specialist clothing to avoid chafing, runners have their own preferred kit, and everyone ends up finding what suits them best.
This was just another practical solution to a practical problem.
Fitness is hard enough without making yourself uncomfortable for the sake of convention.
If changing one item of clothing means you can focus on the exercise instead of the irritation, then perhaps that's the sensible option.
After all, the gym is about improving yourself, not meeting someone else's expectations of what you should be wearing underneath.
