Happy New Year to you all 🎉
I always find this strange, hopeful space between Christmas and New Year a time for reflection. The noise quietens, the calendar resets, and there’s suddenly permission to pause and ask: How do I want to live this next chapter?
This year, I wanted to share my thoughts openly—not just as someone who crossdresses, but as a whole person learning how to live more honestly, gently, and intentionally.
New Year, Same Me – Just a Little Braver
I don’t believe in reinventing myself every January. I’ve learned that who I am doesn’t need fixing. But I do believe in choosing better ways to show up for myself and the people I love.
One of my biggest resolutions this year is simple, but meaningful:
To take opportunities to be Davina fully, when I can.
Not forcing moments. Not pushing boundaries for the sake of it. But recognising when the space is there—emotionally, practically, safely—and stepping into it rather than letting fear or habit close the door. Davina isn’t a phase or an escape; she’s a part of me that deserves time, care, and expression.
Keeping Davina in the Conversation
Over the festive period, my wife and I talked. Properly talked. The kind of conversations that aren’t always easy but are necessary.
One of my commitments this year is to keep Davina present in our conversations, rather than boxed away until she becomes “an issue” again. That doesn’t mean overwhelming every discussion or turning her into the centre of everything—but it does mean not pretending she doesn’t exist.
For me, honesty works best when it’s ongoing, calm, and human. Davina doesn’t need to shout to be heard. She just needs not to be silenced.
Less Work. More Us.
Like many people, I’ve spent years measuring success by how busy or exhausted I am. This year, I’m consciously stepping back from that mindset.
My resolution is to work less where possible and concentrate more on me and us.
Time together. Time to rest. Time to talk. Time to simply be.
I’ve learned that when I’m constantly drained, I don’t show up as the best version of myself—whether that’s as a partner, a parent, or as Davina.
Health Isn’t Just a Number on the Scales
Yes, diet and exercise are part of my New Year goals. I want to feel fitter, stronger, and more comfortable in my body—especially when presenting as Davina.
But this year, I’m redefining what “healthy” really means.
Health is:
Being kinder to myself mentally
Letting go of guilt around who I am
Moving my body because it feels good, not as punishment
Dressing in ways that bring joy, not shame
A healthier physical lifestyle matters—but a healthier mental one matters just as much.
An Invitation to You
So that’s my New Year. Not dramatic. Not perfect. Just honest.
I’d love to know—what about you?
Are you resolving to be more yourself this year?
To take a step you’ve been quietly thinking about for a long time?
To be kinder, braver, or more present?
Whether your journey involves crossdressing, gender exploration, self-acceptance, or simply learning to breathe a little easier—your resolutions matter.
Let’s make this a year of progress, not pressure. Presence, not perfection. And most of all, authenticity.
Here’s to a New Year lived a little more openly—together.
Davina
