GMTV Interview – “The Myths of Crossdressing”

Susanna Reid: "Good morning and welcome back! We’re joined now by Davina, who might just surprise you. A happily married husband, a proud dad, and now—an author of a brand new book ‘The Myths of Crossdressing.’ Davina, welcome!"

Davina (smiling): "Thank you so much for having me, Susanna. It’s surreal being here, honestly."

Susanna: "You look amazing, by the way."

Davina (blushing slightly): "Thank you! That means the world coming from you."

Susanna (warmly): "So, let’s dive in. You say in your book that you’re probably the last person people would expect to be a crossdresser. What do you mean by that?"

Davina: "Well, I grew up very traditionally. I played rugby, captained teams, studied engineering, I’ve worked in male-dominated environments my whole life—and I still do. I’ve always been seen as this ‘alpha male’ character. But behind closed doors, Davina has always been a part of me. Dressing is not about becoming someone else—it’s about expressing another part of who I am."

Susanna: "And you're happily married? With kids?"

Davina: "Yes. I’m married to a wonderfully supportive woman, and we have a family. Being Davina doesn’t change my love for my wife or my role as a father. If anything, it makes me a better, more emotionally open person."

Susanna (nodding): "There’s a big myth that crossdressing is linked to sexuality. You talk about that in the book—could you explain?"

Davina: "Absolutely. It’s one of the biggest misunderstandings. Crossdressing doesn’t mean I’m gay or bisexual—I'm a straight man who enjoys expressing a feminine side through fashion and presentation. It’s about comfort, identity, even therapy for some of us. For me, it’s been escapism, a creative outlet, and a source of personal empowerment."

Susanna: "Your book also addresses how society reacts to crossdressing, especially partners. How has your wife handled it?"

Davina: "It’s been a journey. There were fears and questions, and we took time to understand each other. But love, openness, and laughter helped. She’s seen how much happier and relaxed I am when I can just be myself. We even have fun with it—sharing clothes, makeup tips… It’s become something that bonds us."

Susanna: "And what do you hope readers take away from ‘The Myths of Crossdressing’?"

Davina: "I want people to drop the shame and secrecy. To see that crossdressers are everywhere—ordinary people with extraordinary courage. I want partners to understand, not fear. And I want the world to stop making assumptions. We’re not weird. We’re human."

Susanna: "Beautifully said, Davina. Thank you for being brave, honest—and stylish!"

Davina (laughs): "Thank you, Susanna. It’s been a dream."
