The Case of the Missing Lipstick

Halloween always brings a flurry of creativity — face paint, wigs, and last-minute rummaging through drawers for “just the right shade of lipstick.

”This year, our kids decided to dig through the makeup drawers in our bedroom, on the hunt for Halloween inspiration. I checked with my wife they didn't ask!!

My makeup top draw was open and my lipstick bag unzipped and I never leave it unzipped and hadn't been in there and on the coffee table one of my red lipsticks.. Or I assumed one of mine (It is)

Now, in most homes, that would be mildly annoying. In ours, it’s… interesting, because that lipstick isn’t my wife’s — it’s mine or rather Davinas lipstick and a current go to red one!!

They have absolutely no idea, of course (As far as I know).

To them, it’s just “Mum’s makeup.”

But I had to smile at the thought of one of them borrowing a shade that belongs to their crossdressing father. Using my red lipstick in front of the mirror — completely unaware that it’s been worn by both their father whom they'd never consider is a crossdresser.

I mentioned it to my wife this morning and she hadn't told them to check in the drawers for spare makeup.

She will have a quiet word about coming in our bedroom taking makeup.

It’s one of those moments that makes me laugh at how naturally Davina’s world sits alongside everyday family life. Even when I’m not dressed, little traces of my crossdressing lives quietly in the corners of our home.
