Why V-Necks Are Your Best Friend

One thing I've learned over the years—through trial, error, and way too many outfit selfies—is that not all necklines are created equal, especially when you're a t-girl or crossdresser trying to create a softer, more feminine silhouette.

Let’s talk about the V-neck (My go-to).
It's one of the most flattering for T-girls—and here’s why.
V-Necks: The Silhouette Softeners
As t-girls, many of us have broader shoulders or a more angular frame. That’s just how we’re built, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But when we want to present more femininely, the shape of our clothing can really help shift the focus.
A V-neck draws the eye downward, creating a vertical line that does two things:
It elongates the neck and upper body, giving an elegant and graceful feel.
It visually narrows the shoulders, breaking up that straight-across line that can sometimes feel a bit “blocky” in a more masculine frame.
My Monday and Tuesday look this week were v necks here in cartoon form.

Even a subtle V-neck—nothing too plunging—can help shift the proportions and create a softer overall look. Add a little necklace and the effect is even prettier.
Rounded Tops: Not Bad, But Not the Best
I still wear rounded or crew neck tops sometimes (My blue dress today has a rounded neck i wish it was a v-neck), especially if the rest of the outfit is working well.
But I do find they don’t flatter me in quite the same way.
A high, round neckline can shorten the neck, and if you're already conscious of your shoulders, it doesn’t do much to hide them.
It’s not a total no-go, but I definitely notice the difference when I switch to a V.

The “No-No” for Me: Off-the-Shoulder and Boat Necks
I tried one yesterday and it gave me the Ik as just didn't look good on me so no cartoonised pic.
Now these are the ones I avoid. Anything that draws a horizontal line across the tops of the shoulders just seems to make mine look even broader.
I love seeing cis women wear these styles, especially in summer, but when I try them, it feels like I’ve accidentally stepped into linebacker territory.
Not the look I’m going for!
If you’re very petite or have narrow shoulders, you might get away with it.
But for many of us, it’s not the most forgiving shape.
Final Thoughts:
If you're just starting out building a feminine wardrobe or looking to tweak your style, pay attention to your necklines.
The V-neck is my reccomendation (and shave that chest nothing worse than seeing a t girl with a hairy chest) it quietly works wonders for your shape, confidence, and presence.
Sometimes it’s the simple things that make all the difference.
