Hello, back again ;-)
Not too sure if this subject has been discussed at all before.
Here in the uk there seems to be a few programmes on tv ie soap operas that have started to have storylines with transgender characters in them, one in particular has a girl that left the programme a couple of years ago and has now returned to her family as a man.
They didn't show any of the process that she/he had to go through but the character returned at a pre op stage.
There will soon to be aired series i think called "Butterfly" about a young boy who starts to crossdress but ultimately wants to transition.
Whilst i think this is a good thing to show on mainstream tv to make people more aware and to understand i do hope in the near future that they would do a storyline that gets one of the better known characters to go through a crossdressing story showing how it affects not just the man who crossdresses but his wife and family and to tackle the issues talked about on forums like this.
They have tackled being gay/lesbian and now trangender, it's sort of true what some people say that crossdressing is the last taboo?
Although i have no intention of ever wanting to transition the basic feelings of how other people treat you is sort of the same.
My own wife has watched one of the above stories and since i told her i crossdress i feel she has maybe gained some understanding of what it's like to be trans.
What do you all think?

They would report it different if he had on makeup wig etc trying to pass as a woman i think
Ok. I know this post is old but I though this would be the place to add the photo above (not linked in this post for some reason). This is from the recent Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards and shows Woody Cook (Zoe Ball and Norman Cook's son). This was his red carpet outfit for the evening and he was widely photographed on the night with the photos published in the mainstream media. The article highlighted fashion details of the dress and made no reference as to why he chose it or was in any way critical towards him. Is the media becoming more accepting today than it used to be? I know there is more to it for me when I dress (not just putting a dress on and nothing else) and that he is the son of a celebrity couple but what's everyone else's thoughts?
Not much on TV which shows you as you is there always some OTT story.
Frustrating for you all

I watched the Amazon series Transparent. As with most it started out sympathetically but lost teh plot. As with most articles, programmes, dramas etc they tend to focus on people transitioning and not on crossdressers. If they are crossdressers they tend to be classed as 'perverts' or the subject of ridicule. Crossdressers don't seem to get the same sympathy as someone wishing to transition.

Lol me
Now you see if my wife was to say that to me I'd say, "where are we going"? lol
Maybe feature me getting him dressed them saying come on we are off our in the car to his shock.horror
Being a wife i concur first thing that comes to mind is pervert
That's why we need to talk gain education in why you dress and lend you how it makes us feel
A pity they didn't do a documentary on a regular tgir l but people would say well that was boring he's just normal but enjoys dressing up

Thats why i feel that the media should do their bit to educate society to show how it's not just all about a sexual thing.
The pervert tag was once what they used to call gay men, but that has changed in todays society, the principal is simple, educate people, once they have the right information they start to understand that it's just another aspect to that person, and slowly people start to accept.
Thats my theory anyway. :-)
The problem is people get certain areas of the Trans spectrum.but don t get us men who.dress up.as women for.kicks or relaxation and they think pervert.
Sean bean wouldn't be cast lol
Jude law didn t make a bad looking woman in something I saw him in.
I can't stand eastenders so i haven't seen that story, the emmerdale story seems to be more sympathetic towards the character even going to the point of suggesting the friend of the girl that was maybe starting to fall in love the male version.
Maybe Julliette could be an adviser on a story giving her first hand account and then get a well known actor to portray that story?
Any suggestions who would be able to carry it off?

Eastendeers ran a story pretty poor acting where the undertaker guy was a crossdresser, the story ran and ran the wife was distraught and completely anti his dressing she was a worse actress but a friend of them both knew and helped accommodate the crossdressing leading to the wife breaking up with him and shunning her friend then blackmail came into it as someone found out then it slipped from the story line handled terribly by the BBC as far as I'm concerned.
There have been other documentaries on tv where brave tgirls have allowed cameras to film them with partners showing a short but about who they are as men nd apartheid relationships are then showing them getting ready to go to a nightclub all couples featured together meeting up.
Neither program covered who i am as a crossdresser \ tgirl.
Another feature play on the bb c a tgir l going to Blackpool going out meeting other t girls for the first time also didn't cover me, then the Sean bean short film accused more about admirers and sex didn t cover me.
There's never been a feature in run of the mill crossdressing as it would be pretty boring.
Yeah iv e dressed all my life since a kid i liked the feel of silk satin and Miliband pretended to be a woman of course as I grew up it was taken on like most young lads masturbation and marshal l ward's lingerie section the thought does mum have these garments on yes she does how woulcrossdresserd they feel on a high and a crisscrossed born .. Later in life stress and it returned and now I just like to unwind transformed no I don't want to be a woman and im.married with kids straight and a stressful.job dressing helps me escape and I sometimes work from home dressed and sometimes have a girl's night in with the wife.. How boring would
that be and the reaction that blokes weird and so is his wife for accepting they There s something more to it than that.. But there's not.
I'd hope they portray it as not unusual that lots of men do it for the same harmless reason that it's a combat to stress the escapism from the macho front men out up but don t think bb c wouk d want to do that..
One day may see someone brave enough to do it maybe Juliette Noir as she s already a YouTube sensation but if the bb c tunes in There s a great doc there but then Juliette would be exposed to the world as a t girl.and not sure anyone wants that.
