I do think that generally society thinks of a fetish as being dark and sinister whereas a kink is seen to be lighter and more fun. I think as crossdressers we don't like to be thought of as having a fetish and in most cases I believe that it is not the case.
I thought this article was interesting in that is described a kink as a sexual practice with another person but a fetish is about and object or activity - not the other person.

If the definition of kinky is the use of unconventional sexual practice practices, concepts or fantasies. Crossdressing seems to be more about fantasy. How many of us actually want to involve our wives and partners in this fantasy? Quite a few I would have thought and it's only really because we are do not that it becomes a fetish. Granted there will be crossdressers who just wear lingerie for sexual fulfillment but to spend time getting dressed up without feeling any sexual need cannot be a fetish and only really kinky if you want to involve your partner.
Any thoughts?
