There are as many ways to crossdress as there are crossdressers.

Everyone has their own unique style and no two are the same.

Having said this, there are broad categories in which we can very loosely separate one crossdressing style from another.

Let me try to describe a couple of these categories for you. There are others too.

First, we have the weekend crossdresser: (This is where I fit in )

This type of crossdresser generally doesn’t dress 24/7. For this “variety” crossdressing is more of a hobby. The clothing worn usually isn’t displayed prominently in the master bedroom closet, but may be hidden away somewhere - in either a separate out-of-the-way closet or in a suitcase. If there are children in the family and the wife is supportive, the man in the relationship relaxes en femme when the kids are away. Or the couple may travel out of town where nobody knows either one of them.

Next we have the fetishist as crossdresser:

This variety of crossdresser enjoys having a dominant female transform him into his “dream woman” character. The pleasure here is being a passive recipient of femininity. The woman transforms the man into some version of a female - a maid’s outfit is not uncommon. The reason this is passive crossdressing is because the woman is doing all the work. Receiving a transformation experience is highly pleasurable to this type of crossdresser. The clothing and makeup come off at the end of the crossdressing session and the man typically goes home dressed in his male clothing again.

Next, we have the Drag Queen:

This variety of crossdresser is all about entertainment. A drag queen dresses over-the-top as a way to grab your attention while they perform. Usually drag queens don’t walk around in public in costume. Many of them are amazing performers though!

Our next variety is your everyday crossdresser:

This type of crossdresser is perfectly comfortable crossdressing publicly every day of the year. They dress like everyday women dress. Seeking neither attention nor shock value from the public, they attempt to blend in with the general population. Many of them can really pull it off - much to their credit.

Interesting that I'm more than happy to remain the weend type crossdresser when i get the urge and need and no where near the other types.. what about everyone else?
